Dreamside's Only Hope

....You're kidding me, right? Everyone knows the Dream Oracle is USELESS! Completely useless I say!

For those of you who do not know who this lovely character is, I would recommend trotting (or clicking, as the case may be) on over here to see the marvelous webcomic Cucumber Quest, written by the lovely Gigi Digi!
The dream oracle actually isn't my favorite character--although she is quite hilarious in her ineptitude. I wonder, has she always been this way? Or have years and years of the same thing made her bored and careless?--but I felt like drawing some fan art, and I had an abundance of blue pens and stuff in my pencil bag, so I thought, Why not? Plus, it gave me an  excuse to draw long flowy dresses, which is always a bonus not like I need an excuse to draw long flowy dresses I don't have a problem go away
Favorite character wise, I'm torn between Almond, Nautilus, and Peridot as my favorite character. I absolutely adore Nautilus, but Almond is a wonderful character and Peridot is adorable--if I was to cosplay any of them, it would be Peridot. As far as villains go, Noisemaster is the best (And I'm not just saying that because he's short) But the Nightmare Knight is pretty boss too. Probably my favorite scene in the book so far goes something like this:
Nightmare Knight: ...I have heard a great many things about you, great hero.
Cucumber: (To Nautilus) THE NIGHTMARE KNIGHT IS SAYING WORDS AT ME! (sob)
Nightmare Knight:.... And it appears they're all true. Well, this was a complete waste of time.

Have a wonderful day!

Testing Ducks

Today (My birthday!!! Yay!!!) I had to go take a test (not so yay...) in the lovely BYU testing Center! Anyway, on my way there, I passed a small flock of three ducks--two drakes and a hen. They were rooting around in the grass, quietly quacking contentedly to themselves. I said hello, of course, (One must always be polite to ducks, you see) and they kept on quacking. I went in and took my test--oh, and did you know that you get a free pencil that says "happy birthday" if you take a test on your birthday? Apparently, when they scan your ID card, it tells them it's your birthday, and they give you a pencil and apologize that you have to take a test on your birthday. I got a pretty good grade--in the 90s, which is all that matters--and was feeling pretty content. Then, in a wonderful surprise, when I exited the testing center (note that this is a different door than I entered) there were my three lovely ducks, sitting there in the grass, as if they were waiting for me! It made me really happy, so I said hello and wished them a lovely day. It feels magical to know that on this my birthday, there were three little ducks who cared about my testing experience.
...It's magical, okay? Let me have my moment; Do not question it.

Love and Birthday Sparkles!

Character Discussion Post!

Hey everyone! Today's discussion post is brought to you by the Letter K and the Number 18! Why? Because those happen to be my favorite.

All righty then! Let's get down to business. Today's discussion post is all about character building, probably the kind you haven't done before. I want to know all about your character's flaws--not personality/character wise, appearance wise. Now, keep in mind that flaws aren't necessarily negative--I happen to think that odd physical appearances add character and a sense of realism to a character. We can't all be made of chiseled marble *cough cough --Edward--cough cough * For example, I have bushy eyebrows. While me and my eyebrows may not always get along, I feel that they are one of the quirks that adds character to me. Like monster high, today's discussion post is all about embracing your character's imperfections!

So, to start it off, I will be talking about Crane characters!

Crisis: Has a big beak of a nose--and really bony knees. Both of these make him look like a bird, which is why I gave them to him, but then I realized that that makes it so that I have to draw knees... I really hate to draw knees.... stupid things really.

Pilot: has long toes. I don't know why, but they fit. Maybe they help him climb or something.

Panic: Eyebrows! Hooray for thick eyebrows.

Crane: nothing. She's perfect. I'm just kidding. But I can't think of anything right off the bat, so this means I'll have to give her something....

Oh, and something I've noticed in Crane is that I'm way too fond of cheekbones (although if you take a look at the list of actors I find attractive, it's really just a list of cheekbones I DON"T HAVE A PROBLEM WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT) So I'm thinking of changing the title to Cheekbones (with some plot thrown in)*

I've done my bit, it's your turn! Pick a story or just pick some of your favorite characters and talk about their flaws!

Love and Sparkles,
Kayla

*I hope you know I'm not serious. About the title, that is. I am serious about the astonishing amount of cheekbones in Crane...

More Crane Tidbits!

Hello readers! Here I am with some juicy behind the scenes Crane facts! No dialogue this time, but I do have some interesting facts that--while not necessarily important to the plot--are kind of fun to know! I also will be talking a little about some background people.

1. Panic's wedding dress is actually green, because she didn't feel right wearing white, and as a ginger she looks like a sheet wearing white.

2. At the beginning of the story, Crisis's (heh heh. Say Crisis's out loud. You will sound like a snake.) job is that of an archaeologist--well, an archaeologist's assistant.

3. As of right now, Crane's father is named Cadfael and her mother is named Myrrha.

4. Pilot plays guitar. Frequently. And writes cheesy love songs just to annoy Panic.

5. Panic and Pilot have five children--this isn't a spoiler because this actually never even makes it into the story. And their wedding might be cut from it too. I don't know--that are a bizarre mix of raccoon-foxes. They have two girls and three boys. The youngest girl is named Melody, and the oldest girl is named Ginger--and not because of her red hair. I don't know what to name the boys yet.

6. While we are on the topic of Panic and Pilot's future together (Guess who my favorite couple is? XD) Panic actually miscarries their first child. :(

7. On a happier note, Mannequin and Pythagoras are the only unholies married...and they are married to each other. (Panic and Pilot don't count because that doesn't happen until after everything else, FYI)

8. Neither Panic nor Pilot wear shoes. Except in the snow--that's your extra tidbit: there will be snow at some point... and it's a pretty major point!

9. Panic's favorite food is Sausage. And I know that most of these are about Panic and Pilot... that's because background information about Crisis is actually a big part of the story... and I freaking love Panic and Pilot. There's also a pretty big thing about Pilot that I'm dying to tell you guys but can't because it's kind of a major spoiler.

10.  Pilot is the Queen of England. There, I spoiled it (Just kidding, I'm not serious!!!) Some point in the story, Crane rides a pony named Rosie. So there.

Now, time to highlight my favorite background character who is not an unholy (since Mannequin is probably my favorite background/semi main very evil unholy) Drum roll please.....
Jewel!

Jewel is a human contortionist/acrobat that travels with the same troupe as Panic. She's a major chatterbox, and is Panic's best friend, even though they are about as different as night and day; Panic has long loosely braided hair, Jewel has a short bob. Panic isn't really interested in a relationship, Jewel is very boy-crazy. Panic likes to keep things plain and simple, Jewel is over the top extravagant--Her name may or may not actually be Jewel (no one knows for sure) but she certainly looks like one. Jewel wears as much jewelry as possible, and jingles when she walks. Jewel doesn't play too big a part in the story, asides from being there and watching Panic's stuff when she goes on long adventures with, in Jewel's own words, "The two hottest guys in all the world." (Crisis and Pilot)

Any way, Have a marvelous day! I might be posting an expose on Mannequin sometime soon, just because she's wonderfully wicked--think Lady Macbeth and Zira from Lion King II--and adorable to boot!

Love and Sparkles!

I have the worst Photographic memory ever.

Over the years, I have realized that I, in fact, have a photographic memory. You might think that it is a blessing, but I happen to have the worst photographic memory, and it frustrates me to know end. You see, I remember all the wrong sorts of details. When I am in a test, and I see a question about a certain paragraph of text, I can remember the location of the text on the page, as well as about where it is in the book, and I remember what the text around it says...but I don't remember the actual paragraph of text. I can see the page in my minds eye...and still draw a blank. It's the worst with scriptures. I never remember the actual reference to a scripture, but I remember about where it is, and what side of the page it's on. It's a great gift, but saying "Oh, near the end of D&C, middle right of the left page" doesn't serve as a reference when I'm trying to tell someone my favorite scripture. (Which is D&C 128:22, in case you were wondering)

That is all for today! What funny quirks do you have?
Love and Sparkles,
Kayla
